While the opening World Cup games were generating their fair share of the media headlines, Cefni Tyres of Llangefni, Gwynedd, was already celebrating after winning first prize in the football themed national promotion organised by Grouptyre, the UK’s leading independent tyre wholesaler, and Continental, Official Sponsor of the 2010 FIFA World CupTM.
Cefni Tyres scooped a Sony 46 inch full HD LCD TV plus Home Cinema system in the promotion, which ran throughout May, and was presented with the prize by its local Grouptyre member Oak Tyres.
After leaving school Cefni Tyres owner Medwyn Evans spent three years as an apprentice with Wrexham AFC and was offered a professional contract but, unfortunately, his potential sporting career was cut short by injury after just one season. Now his two sons are involved in the beautiful game – one plays for Wrexham AFC while the other is at Tranmere Rovers FC.

A further 10 lucky winners will take delivery of a Continental World Cup Goodie Bag comprising an Official World Cup replica match ball, a FIFA World Cup™ branded polo shirt and a rucksack.
Every Continental car and 4×4 tyre that retailers who registered to take part in the incentive bought from Grouptyre between May 1-31 guaranteed them an entry in the grand prize draw which took place at the beginning of June.
